For gingivitis treatment – simple cleaning. Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gums.
During gingivitis there is a strong red color of the gums (red gums) and swelling of the interdental papillae (gums between the teeth). Also the gums tend to bleed (bleed). Bad breath can also be caused by gingivitis. The direct cause of gingivitis is plaque, which is the soft, sticky, colorless membrane of bacteria that grows on the teeth and gums.
If plaque is not removed with daily brushing and flossing, it produces toxins (poisons) that can irritate the gums, causing gingivitis. At this early stage of gum disease, the damage can be reversed, as the bone and connective tissue that hold the teeth in place have not yet been affected. But if gingivitis is not treated, it can develop into periodontitis and cause permanent damage to your teeth and jaw.
How can I prevent gingivitis?
Good oral hygiene is the most important factor in the treatment of gingivitis. Dental cleaning is also extremely important, because once the plaque hardens and builds up, or becomes a stone (tartar), only a dentist can remove it with special tools and an ultrasonic device.
You can help stop gingivitis before it progresses by:
– Proper brushing and flossing to remove plaque and control tartar growth
– Proper nutrition for the normal development of your jaw and teeth
– Avoidance of cigarettes
– Regular visits to your dentist
