Digital Printing
DIGITAL DENTAL IMAGING is a modern technological procedure used for the three-dimensional (3D) recording of a patient’s teeth and gums using intra-oral and extra-oral 3D
SCAN.
This technique has many advantages such as digital smile design (DIGITAL SMILE DESIGN), patient comfort, speed and the ability to store data in digital format.

The basic types of digital tooth impressions include:
Intraoral Scanning: In this procedure, the dentist or orthodontist uses a digital scanner that looks like a small pen to scan the patient’s teeth.
Extraoral Scanning: in this procedure, the scanning is done on the patient’s head and face.
3D digital imaging is used for the fabrication of prosthetic restorations such as all-ceramic veneers, crowns, bridges and post-implant restorations, while the first steps are being taken for its use in the fabrication of full and partial dentures.
It is also used in orthodontics for the planning of treatment and the manufacture of orthodontic appliances, such as the manufacture of clear aligners, giving the patient the desired harmonious smile without the use of unsightly and annoying “braces”.
Other uses of digital imaging are the monitoring of the evolution of tooth movement and dental wear over the years (patient monitoring) and the early detection of dental caries.
Finally, the use of new technology in digitally guided implantology is important, making the placement of dental implants a more predictable and accurate process.
