Splints for athletes & children

Athletic splints, oral splints or denture protector are different names for the same thing: a device worn over your teeth and protects them from hits on the face and head. Denture protective splints are a key part of sports equipment for those involved in a sport that has many falls, intense physical contact or flying equipment. The risk of tooth injury during several sports activities is particularly high. At a childhood, a very large proportion of children are also injured in the facial area in the various activities. So the use of appropriate injuries are necessary, including the splints. The splints are either prefabricated or manufactured to the dentist. Prefabricated often do not apply properly to the mouth, often increasing their risk of swallowing and breathing difficulty. Dental splints are manufactured in the dental laboratory, since the dentist first takes a footprint from the patient’s mouth. These splints, as opposed to trade in trade, are personalized, that is, they are perfectly adapted to the patient’s mouth.

Conservation period Ideally, denture protective splints should be replaced after each sports season, because they may be worn over time, and become less effective. Replacement is especially important for adolescents because their mouths and teeth continue to grow until adulthood. Many athletes playing in various sports change their half-year-olds when they go for their six-month dental check-ups.
