Resin Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are essentially “fillings” which, however, after a detailed impression by the dentist, are manufactured in the laboratory, either from porcelain or from acrylic resin of high aesthetics and durability. Finally, the work is bonded with a special adhesive on the teeth.
This technique is indicated for the replacement of old amalgam fillings (black fillings) and extensive carious surfaces without the need for extensive tooth preparation (grinding) or endodontic treatment (root canal treatment).
It is the best solution for relatively large lesions of the chewing surface of posterior teeth when we want to preserve the existing dental tissues, i. e. not to choose the socket as a solution and when the extent of the damage does not allow a safe restoration with a filling.
